Kentmere, 2 days, 5 Wainwrights
When I originally booked a trip to Kentmere in December I was expecting that crampons would be needed if I was to complete any Wainwrights, but mild conditions meant that I only saw a tiny amount of snow on my walk (and even some sunshine)! On the first day I walked from Stavely station to the camping barn at Maggs Howe, where I was staying, via Sallows. With short December days I knew time would be tight, so decided to do just half the Kentmere horseshoe to add four more Wainwrights to my list on the second day!

Threlkeld to Patterdale, 3 days, 14 Wainwrights
This trip involved three days of quite intense walking, in which I completed the Northen ridge of the Helvellyn range, and bagged a few extra peaks east of Patterdale. I wild camped in a quarry near Sheffield Pike on the first night, and stayed in Patterdale YHA on the second night.
The walking conditions were very mixed. On the Saturday I got fed up of walking in the cold and wet and dropped down into Patterdale where I had an afternoon nap... I woke up to find sunshine and clear blue skies, so put my lovely new osprey backpack back on and bagged a couple more peaks! As always, here is the breakdown of which Wainwrights I ticked off my list this time;

Borrowdale, 4 days, 11 Wainwrights
Fabulous walking conditions in the Lake district during the second week of April, with sun in the sky but still collections of snow on the ground. This trip I stayed in Borrowdale YHA and started all my walks from there. Monday afternoon I summited two Wainwrights to 'warm up' having not climbed any hills since October last year.
Tuesday was a long day out, a 9 hour walk 'ticking off' a number of slightly less inspiring Wainwrights which involved a great deal of walking though wet marsh land. The highlights were encountering a family of deer on Great Crag and the incredible views from Raven Crag over Thirlmere Reservoir.
Wednesday was the highlight of the week, with an amazing frozen waterfall on the way to the summit, incredible views of the High Spy ridge from the top of Dale Head and eating lunch in the sunshine on the summit of Robinson with great views over Buttermere.

Keswick to Buttermere Circuit, 2 days, 7 Wainwrights
Five days after turning 30 I headed for the hills to play with my new toys (altimeter, osprey farpoint, lightweight stove etc) and bag a few more Wainwrights. I was met with some of the best walking weather all year, as a result of which the views were spectacular and I was able to sleep tentless next to lake Buttermere and watch the moon rise. An early start meant that I also beat the sunrise to my first summit on the Sunday, giving me an incredible dawn view over Keswick. So, here are the Wainwrights I can add to my list;
